We enjoyed a fantastic morning in School celebrating the success of our Year 14 and 13 pupils as they received their examination results. Congratulations to Year 8 pupil Alice who won the Vase Trophy at the NI Super Cup with her team Crusaders. Throughout the tournament, Alice competed against teams from Northern Ireland, Scotland and the Republic of Ireland, and captained her team in a match against opponents from the USA, where she was awarded Player of the Match for her performance.

We are delighted to report that Year 12 pupil Chloe Beckinsale has signed for Manchester City WFC. Congratulations to our Year 12 groups who braved the heat over the past few days to complete their Silver Award qualifying expedition. The pupils camped over 2 nights and walked in difficult conditions, adapting to the re-routing, using their navigation and compass skills and drinking lots of water!

Congratulations to Year 10 pupil Nathan McFaul on his selection to represent the Northern Ireland Youth FA in an international Tournament in Limerick from 20-21 June. Nathan’s Northern Ireland team won the Trophy at the Association Cup, with Nathan also being awarded Northern Ireland Player of the Tournament, selected by coaches and manger.

Our boys’ team – Josh, Tom, Isaac and Luke – faced Larne GS in semi-final of Ulster Schools’ Plate. The team lost 4-2 but each of the boys played well with some very close matches.

Our GCSE Art and Design classes enjoyed a day of research at Belfast Botanic Gardens and Ulster Museum in preparation to complete their Creative Industries project.

Congratulations to Year 10 pupil, Oliver, who competed in the recent NI and Ulster U14-U20 Athletics Championships, winning Gold in the U16 triple jump with a PB of 11.99m and Bronze in the 200m with a PB of 24.42s, qualifying for the Irish Championships in both events. Oliver also reached the 100m final, finishing 7th place with a time of 12.37.

Today, Year 8 pupils Amelia, Anna, Joel and Lloyd, together with other pupils within the Area Learning Community, had the opportunity to learn sign language from pupils at Jordanstown School. They learned basic words and phrases related to emotions, foods, colours and animals, the alphabet, and the importance of smiling when talking to those who are deaf.
