The Media Studies department welcomed a former pupil, Amy McGuckin, to speak to pupils interested in pursuing a career in radio. Amy, who works on the Q Radio morning show, gave an informative and detailed overview of her career path to date and offered advice on how to gain entry into this media industry as well as an insight into the challenges and opportunities which a career in this area presents.

This year, a number of Year 13 pupils are participating in a project run by Habitat for Humanity called Change Makers. The 12 pupils involved in the project benefit from 2 school-based workshops exploring how they can make positive changes to society both locally and globally. The pupils were taught about the Connect-4-Ways Model, looking at recognising signs, naming the issue of suicide, listening to or sharing their story and signposting or accessing services to provide safety.
