CURRICULUM
Key Stage 3
In Years 9 and 10 pupils learn about the language and culture of Spanish speaking countries. We study the topics and grammar which enable our students to talk about themselves and their interests and use Spanish for transactional purposes such as ordering and shopping.
GCSE
At GCSE, pupils follow the CCEA Spanish specification. Pupils study four modules Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing. Each holds a 25% weighting. There are three Contexts for Learning which include topics such as culture, travel and school life.
A Level
At A Level, pupils follow the CCEA Spanish specification. Topics include relationships, health, lifestyle, young people in society and our place in a changing world. Assessment consists of a speaking exam (30%), a listening and reading exam (30%) and a writing exam (40%).
Co-curricular Activities

Our pupils participate in the Stephen Spender Translation Competition and the GCHQ National Language Competition. Opportunities to visit Spain include trips to Valencia. Each month pupils can earn House Points by competing in our Duolingo Spanish League.
