Music Success

We are delighted to report on the recent music successes of Year 14 pupil Sophie Hueston:

• National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain week-long residential course over the Easter holidays with the conductor and many of the players from the world-renowned Black D yke Mills Band followed by a concert in The Garden Rooms at Tennants, Leyburn.

• Concert with the National Youth Brass Band of Northern Ireland, a new NI youth band, on 21 March at Strule Theatre in Omagh. Sophie performed as Principal Horn.

• Finalist in the Young Musician of the Year competition

• Ballyclare Festival: Bursary for Overall Best Performance, 1^st in Classical Vocal Solo and 1^st in Year 13-14 Brass Solo.

• Ballymena Festival: 1^st in Year 13-14 Vocal Solo.

• BBNI Solos: 1^st in 18 and under Brass Solo, 1^st in 19 and under Brass Solo and 1^st in Senior Ensemble.

• Carrickfergus Festival: 1^st in Sacred Solo, 2^nd in Year 13-14 Vocal Solo and Bursary for Vocal Championship of the Festival.

• Belfast Festival: 1^st in Vocal Solo, Overall Prize and Bursary for highest mark in Vocal Classes. 

• Finally, Sophie has been awarded a Scholarship to study singing at Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
