BBC CLASS OF 2007
BBC NI Political Correspondent
I left Belfast High in 2007 although sometimes it feels like it was just yesterday. Since then, I’ve trained to become a journalist and have been lucky to spend most of my career at BBC News in Belfast. Since 2018 I’ve been working in politics, and a day in politics is certainly never dull. It’s a privilege to report on some of the biggest stories in Northern Ireland and hold those in power to account.
I studied A-Level Politics at Belfast High, and it heavily influenced my decision to get into that speciality in journalism. I remember fondly all of my classes with Mrs Fowles and Ms Gregory. Although I only studied A-Levels at Belfast High, I was made to feel welcome from day one and I truly cherished my two years there.
Beyond studying, I helped found a book club with my English Literature classmates and joined the quiz team, a useful outlet for someone as competitive as me! Moving to “big school” is an important moment, but Belfast High is a great place to grow up and get ready for what lies beyond the classroom.
