I am a proud alumnus of Belfast High School, where I studied from 1965 to 1970. Over the years, I have built a career in business and investment while also pursuing my passion for sport. In 2018, I was honoured to receive an OBE for my contributions to the economy, business, and charitable causes. I am deeply committed to supporting the School and contributing to its continued success.

After leaving Belfast High School, I began my career in insurance and co-founded Abbey Insurance Brokers in 1973. Over the next five decades, we grew the company into one of Northern Ireland’s largest insurance firms, employing 500 staff, before selling it to a global private equity firm.

In addition to my work in insurance, I became a shareholder and director of Lowe Refrigeration, a large refrigeration rental business. Together with my partners, we transformed the business into a global leader with offices in Singapore, the USA, Dubai, and Europe, before selling it to private equity in 2014.

In 2015, along with three other local businessmen, I founded Click Energy, a Northern Ireland-based electricity provider, further diversifying my business ventures. I have also served as a board member for several businesses, including the Galgorm Hotel Group, one of Northern Ireland’s leading hospitality companies.

My passion for sport led me to represent Ulster and Ireland in badminton over a ten-year period, and I had the honour of representing Northern Ireland at the 1978 Commonwealth Games. In addition to this, I also played football in the Irish League and cricket at senior level. Beyond business and sport, I have been deeply involved in supporting local charities that have always been close to my heart.

Belfast High School played a formative role in shaping who I am today. I look forward to giving back and helping to uphold the high standards and traditions that the school is known for.
