Belfast High School has been awarded Gold by UNICEF’s Rights Respecting School programme, having received the Silver Award in 2024 and the Bronze Award in 2023.
This award recognises our commitment to promoting and realising children’s rights and encouraging adults, children and young people to respect the rights of others, in school and beyond, by putting the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child at the heart of the School’s planning, policies and practice. A Rights Respecting School is a community where children’s rights are learned, taught, practised, respected, protected and promoted.
Gold is the highest accolade given by UNICEF UK and it reflects our deep and thorough commitment to children’s rights at all levels of school life.
Our pupil led steering group, Outright, is to be commended on driving this whole school project. Additionally, they were awarded the Governors’ Prize for all their hard work!
Congratulations to the whole school community who clearly know about and respect rights and act as ambassadors for children’s rights locally and globally!
