
MEDIA STUDIES
Media Studies develops critical understanding of media and its role in society and culture by analysing both national and global media forms, industries and contexts through the lens of key concepts and critical perspectives. Students then apply this media language and understanding of representation in the construction of original media products.

CURRICULUM
A Level
At A Level, pupils follow the WJEC Media Studies specification. Topics include the Film Industry, Selling Images, News in the On-line Age, Television in the Global Age, Magazines and Video Games. Assessment consists of written exams (AS 24%, A2 36%) and Coursework (AS 16%, A2 24%).
Co-curricular Activities
Pupils have opportunities to attend a Photoshop Club where they can develop both technical and creative skills and/or lead a Film Club where they can develop leadership skills and widen their cultural awareness. Pupils are also encouraged to participate in departmental trips.
