Hello, my name is Ben Gardner and it is an honour to have been chosen to be Head Boy of Belfast High School this year. When I joined 6 years ago I was shy and unsure, but with the encouragement of teachers and throwing myself into many of the excellent extra-curricular activities Belfast High School has to offer, it massively shaped who I am today. Belfast High School has given me so much, both academically and through extra-curricular experiences. I really enjoy playing rugby for the School and have recently been elected 1st XV Captain. I am hopeful for a successful season ahead. I have also been fortunate enough to partake in some of the many interesting trips Belfast High School has to offer. I thoroughly enjoyed the Geography trip to Iceland and was chosen to be part of the School’s first ABAANA team which travelled to Uganda in April 2025, working with children much less fortunate than us and to meet our School’s sponsor kids.  I completed my Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award expedition in Wicklow in August and hope to complete my Award this year. These experiences have taught me resilience, teamwork and giving my best in everything I do. Finally, joining Christian Union and being a part of this inclusive, welcoming society has been a high point for me and I have made lifelong friends. We are incredibly fortunate to have a team of teachers and support staff who passionately care about the education and welfare of the pupils. I am excited for the year ahead and hope to help make it a memorable one. I intend to lead with integrity, heart and, of course, humour!

Hello, my name is Lily Prince and I am delighted to say that I am the Head Girl of Belfast High School this year. I cannot speak highly enough of Belfast High; not only are the staff and facilities phenomenal, but the opportunity to grow as a person has given me soft skills I will forever be grateful for. Over the last few years we have learned practical ways to develop our LORIC skills, which include leadership, organisation, resilience, initiative and communication skills. This is just one initiative that demonstrates how BHS focuses on preparing pupils for life beyond the classroom. The excellent teaching, enthusiasm and approachability of the staff have allowed me and many others to strive for and reach our full academic potential, which is evident in the school’s excellent exam results. As well as prioritising academic endeavours, we also have a focus on the holistic approach to learning, which is part of the reason why are so proud to have such a vast range of extra-curricular clubs (over 50!). I am delighted to say I am involved in many of these, from Hockey to Christian Union to School Council. While our facilities and opportunities are amazing, it truly is the pupils that make BHS what it is; we are a tightly knit community (helped by the friendly competition of our House system) which is why I felt so welcome at BHS, allowing me to grow in confidence over the years. I’m really looking forward to my last year, working alongside Ben, the rest of the Senior Prefect Team, and the staff to organise activities for an exciting and memorable year for the School that has done so much for me!
