CURRICULUM
Key Stage 3
In Years 8 and 9, pupils begin their French journey using the EPI approach and sentence builders to develop core language skills. They learn to speak about themselves, their home life, school, holidays and free time, gradually building confidence in speaking, listening, reading and writing.
GCSE
At GCSE, pupils follow the CCEA French specification. Pupils explore topics such as family and relationships, social media, holidays, school life and future plans. Lessons are interactive and culturally rich, with a strong focus on communication and fluency.
A Level
At A Level, pupils follow the CCEA specification. AS topics include Relationships and Culture & Lifestyle, with assessments in speaking, listening, reading and writing. Pupils study No et moi by Delphine de Vigan. At A2, themes include Young People in Society and Our Place in a Changing World, with a research project and study of Prévert’s poetry.
Co-curricular Activities
We celebrate European Day of Languages with competitions and events, offer a Paris trip for GCSE and A Level pupils and run house competitions to encourage cultural engagement and language use beyond the classroom.
