EXAMINATIONS
At Belfast High School we believe that learning should be challenging, stimulating and enjoyable. Regular assessments ensure that each individual pupil’s progress is monitored, allowing us to identify any potential issues and to put in place appropriate support.
2025/26 INTERNAL EXAMINATIONS
Winter Examinations:
Years 8-10, 11, 13 and 14: Tuesday 20 January – Tuesday 27 January 2026
Year 12: Tuesday 20 January – Thursday 29 January 2026

Summer Examinations:
Monday 18 May – Friday 22 May 2026
EXTERNAL EXAMINATION DATES
In the lead up to external examinations, pupils receive individual external examinations timetables.

Pupils can also access the relevant examination board websites for the examination timetables. These are usually published 12-18 months in advance of the examination series.
SPECIAL CONSIDERATION
Special Consideration is the process where examination boards make an adjustment to a pupil’s assessment (examination or controlled assessment) because a candidate was disadvantaged at the time of the assessment. The School does not determine if or to what extent an adjustment will be made; the role of the School is to make application for Special Consideration on behalf of a pupil.

While the School will endeavour to ensure Special Consideration applications are made for the events of which we are aware, ultimately it is the responsibility of the parent(s)/carer(s) of each pupil to contact the School if they believe there are circumstances which would lead to Special Consideration.
