The Belfast High School EcoClub and Committee is a group of enthusiastic pupils and staff who are passionate about saving the planet and raising environmental awareness!

Our extra-curricular EcoClub provides opportunity to meet with students in other year groups on a weekly basis; sharing forward thinking ideas and take part in a variety of eco-activities! The Eco-Committee are dedicated to working towards making sustainable changes in Belfast High School and within the wider school community!
Eco-Schools

We are delighted to report that the School has been awarded a second Green Flag Award, valid from June 2024 to June 2026. The Eco-Committee take responsibility, complete an environmental review, write an action plan, and keep the school community updated on progress through assemblies, newsletters, Facebook posts and on the School website.

The eleven Eco-Schools topics link together and compliment many of the United Nation's 17 Sustainable Development Goals to be met by 2030. Topics include 'Biodiversity, Climate Action, Energy, Global Perspective, Healthy Living, Litter, Marine, Outdoor Learning, Transport, Waste and Water'.

Following completion of the Environmental Review in September, and discussion of its findings, the committee have chosen to focus on the following three topics: Waste, Litter and Marine. Our School Eco-Code demonstrates the core environmental values we strive for. Remembering that every act to protect the environment, no matter how small, makes a difference!
