Marie Curie

Marie Curie Marie Curie (1867-1934), was born in Warsaw and studied at the Sorbonne in Paris. She is best known for her work in the study of radioactivity with her husband Pierre. They discovered two new elements: radium and, polonium and in 1903, shared the Nobel Prize for Physics with Becquerel. Marie Curie was the first female recipient of a Nobel Prize and received the prize for Chemistry in 1911. She died in 1934 from an illness caused by overexposure to radiation.
