James Clerk Maxwell

Maxwell James Clerk Maxwell (1831-1879), a Scottish physicist, founded electromagnetic theory and was one of the greatest theoretical physicists of all time. His equations for the electromagnetic field led to the discovery of electromagnetic waves and the subsequent development of communications technology, and they played a crucial role in the rise of the theory of relativity. His other accomplishments include the investigation of colour vision and the principles of thermodynamics.
