Belfast High School 1st XV match against Bangor Grammar School

Belfast High fought bravely but suffered a  14-12 home loss in a tight match against Bangor Grammar.

A fantastic kick from Adam White forced a lineout metres from Bangor's try line and, in the seventh minute, the home side scored when Jordan Garford finished a fine passing move. Robbie Reid calmly kicked between the posts to make it 7-0.

In the 22nd minute Bangor levelled the scoreline. An intelligent run sliced the home defence wide open for a try and a successful conversion followed.

Just before the hour, Bangor scored another try when no meaningful tackle was made to halt their fierce drive forward and a close range conversion was scored with ease.

Belfast High's never-say-die attitude came to the fore five minutes later when a swift and sweeping move allowed Matty Connolly  to score from out wide. Unfortunately, White missed his conversion from the touchline.

Despite the loss, team manager Mr Derek Wilson was upbeat, 'I was very pleased with the overall performance,' he said. 'Henry Atkinson and Ethan Boal led well for us and Robbie Reid and Jordan Garford worked well together for the first try.'
