Rensburg Sheppards/Business Telegraph Schools’ Share Race
Belfast High School is competing in the eighth annual Rensburg share race. The teams, from 28 schools in Northern Ireland, have each invested £100,000 in a portfolio of shares from the FTSE 350 Index. A wide variety of stocks have been selected from the 350 available including Tesco, National Grid, Marks & Spencer, Next, BP, easyJet, GlaxoSmithKline and Burberry. At the end of week one the Belfast High School team is leading the race with a 2% positive return, closely followed by Carrickfergus Grammar School, St Malachy’s College and Larne Grammar School. The competition runs until mid-February 2011.
