Aims of the Department
To inculcate a feeling for, and appreciation of, basic mathematical theory and processes, particularly as related to everyday problems and experiences.
Where possible to help students in other subject areas, thereby enabling them to solve problems in other subjects, eg. Statistics applied to Geography and Biology, Transformations and Patterns to Art.
To treat the subject in two main ways. Firstly, as material in its own right, and secondly as the essential language of other subjects such as Physics.
To continue our policy of regularly informing parents of their child's progress.
