The 1st XI are competing in the Senior Schools Cup. In the 2nd round we defeated Down High 2-0 and we are playing Sullivan Upper in the 3rd Round.

The 2A’s and 2B’s participated in the McDowell Cup Campaign.

The 2A’s are a very talented team, they tied for 1st place in their section with Carrickfergus College but lost out on goal difference. They have only lost one friendly match this season so far.

The 2B’s are a young team and although not winning their section played very well, especially again Ballymena 2A’s when they lost only 1-0.

The 14A’s lost to Victoria in the Junior Schools Cup. They defeated The Girls Model, 2-0 in the Junior Plate first round. They now play Wellington College, Cookstown or Carrick College in the next round.

The 1st X1, 2A’s, 2B’s, U14A’s and U13A’s are all competing in an East Antrim League with local schools. This is the first year of this league.

Susan Burnett and Debbie McNabb had U16 Ulster Trials.

The 1st X1 had a very enjoyable season; they were a very pleasant and enthusiastic team to work with. In the Cup and Plate matches they met two very strong teams in the first rounds, namely Ballymena Academy and Lurgan College. Both were very good matches but we lost both 2-0. The girls gave a good account of themselves in both games with the score at half time being nil all. The goals all came from penalty corners, not from open play.

2A XI

Captain: Emma McPeake

Vice Captain: Sarah Doherty

Results: Played: 17 Won: 9 Drew: 3 Lost5

Player of the Year: Lynsey Morrissey

Top Goal Scorer: Catherine McCrea

The 2AX1 had a very successful season last year, once again reaching the final stages of the McDowell Cup, where they were narrowly beaten the Quarterfinals by the eventual winners. The girls were a fantastic bunch to work with, always full of enthusiasm and fun, while still managing to play skilful, committed hockey. A thoroughly enjoyable and successful season all round.

U14A

Captain: Debbie McNabb

Vice Captain: Jenna McAllister

Results: Played;23 Won:10, Drew:9, Lost:5

Player of the Year: Keri Humphreys and Leah Irwin

Top Goal Scorer: Jenna McAllister

A very successful season for the U14A’s, reaching the semi-final of the Junior School’s Plate competition. All members of the squad played committed, skilful hockey and were very disappointed to lose the semi-final after extra-time on penalty flicks. They all show great promise for the future.

Louise Logan coached the U14A team this year and was a very popular and enthusiastic lady, well liked and respected by all of her team. She has just retired and we wish her a long and happy retirement.

Special Achievements 2003-04
Lindsay Moore, captain of the 1ST XI, was selected and played for the Ulster U18B Schoolgirls team, which played against Leinster Schools and won 5-1. Lindsay was one of the goal scorers.
Amanda Lloyd was selected for the U15 North East development squad and played in the Youth Games.

150th Anniversary Sports Evening
As part of our 150th anniversary celebrations a sports evening was held on Thursday 1st April 2004. Two hockey matches were organised.

The first match was keenly contested between two old girls sides. Both teams had many scoring opportunities, but Norma Montgomery made the crucial strike after latching on to a lovely clearance from the defence. The final result was 1-0, the winning team consisting of mostly Greenisland players.

Team 1: S Doherty, S Johnston, N Montgomery, J Macartney, J Thompson, T Manning, J Barber, G Walker, L Carlin, F Nelson, C Forsythe.

Team 2: P Lewis, N Deddis, L Logan, G Humphries, E Shanks, J Wilshin, J Davis, J Crean, J Myers, J McIlrath, L Stephens, G Hawkins.

Umpires: E Ferguson, A Lowry, A Douglas.

The second match in which Laura Brown guested for the Schools 1st XI was played between the present 1st XI and past pupils who had played in semi final cup matches. Play was fast and furious with every individual on the pitch committing themselves 100% to every tackle, interception, pass and strike. The final result was 3-2 to the past pupils. The goal scorers for the school 1st XI were Lyndsay Neish and Kathryn Corish and for the past pupils, Erica McMullan (Beggs), Jenny Mayne and Zarah Akilagun. This spectacle of hockey displayed the exceptionally high standard at which the school teams have been playing over the past number of seasons.

School 1st XI: R Craig, A Spence, L Neill, G McCullough, S Munn, L Brown, N McCormick, L Moore, K Corish, J Hanvey, C Hanvey, L Neish, R Corish.
