In September Year reps and Committee were decided. We also supported the Wings Appeal by selling badges and key rings to all year groups.

In October we held Jeans for Genes day. This involved pupils wearing non-uniform, but jeans were essential.  Jeans for Genes raises money for children with genetic disorders. This raised £972.25. As well as this, we started the shoebox appeal for Samaritans purse, which involves making shoeboxes filled with presents for children in third world countries. This year we collected 198 shoeboxes.

In November, our charity day took place. Many fundraising events occurred including a non-uniform day and talent show. The Young Enterprise group also videoed the talent show and sold DVDs of the performance; a percentage of the money was donated to charity.  A large amount of the money raised was given to Children in Need, and the rest was donated to various charities. We also sold badges for breast cancer and the committee painted one nail for 20p per nail. These activities raised £285.79.
In December the community service made up a total of 80 hampers to deliver to elderly people within the community. Many tasty treats were included, such as Mince Pies and Christmas Puddings, along with practical goods like soups and sugar. As usual, the recipients were incredibly grateful.

We hope to raise lots more money in 2009, as the year unfolds.
