This is what we would like our department to achieve, as you spend your time in art…
Art and Design plays a vital role in the development of young people. It provides for them unique ways of expressing ideas and feelings about the world they live in. It’s also fun, creative and completely different from many other subjects in the school curriculum.

All pupils will receive a double period of Art and Design weekly, where they will undertake several projects during the school year. |
We strive to bring out the creativeness in every individual, taking them through various disciplines and skills of art with ceramics, printmaking, painting and drawing, as well as both 2D and 3D. If pupils choose to continue study through to GCSE and A-Level, then the skills learnt from their first 3 years will equip them to do so effectively.
In keeping with the aims of the school, involvement in creative activity will encourage the development of worthwhile attitudes within each individual pupil. Co-operation, commitment, perseverance and tolerance demanded within the subject, contribute to the all round personal development of the pupil. |

Another important aspect in lessons is evaluation; this will foster a growing appreciation of not only their own work but that of their peers, other artists, craftsperson's and designers within their own and other cultures.
